In August this year Anotherdish travelled to the Canary Island of Fuerteventura for a week of Sun, Sea, Food and Golf! After having such a great time in neighboring Gran Canaria in 2015, we were eager to see what another Canary Island had to offer.
We opted for a luxury adults only hotel as our trip coincided with the UK school summer holiday season (something to always keep in mind if travelling as a couple in the summer!) Much to our delight we came across Hotel Elba Palace & Golf in the area of Caleta De Fuste, a 5 star luxury hotel, complete with a gorgeous pool area and one of the best golf courses on the Island. The hotel lobby was elaborately decorated with a huge chandelier and we immediately fell in love with the space. We were then shown to our top floor room complete with spacious balcony that had the most beautiful view! To the right, volcanic hills, and to the left a great view of the golf course.
We opted for the breakfast buffet, although half board options were also available. The breakfast was varied including continental and hot buffet options, with the added highlight of free flowing Cava, a very nice touch! Once familiar with the hotel and the surroundings we quickly realised that we were staying in one of the nicest hotels on the Island.
Fuerteventura has a lot to offer for tourists, including beautiful white beaches, clear blue seas, brilliant golf courses, sand dunes and great cuisine. Correlejo, an area in the north of the island, is loaded with an array of seafood restaurants and cool bars, sandy beaches and the sand dunes distinctive to the Canaries. Correlejo also provides access to Isla De Lobos, a tiny islet off the coast of Fuerteventura and a must visit! It only takes about 10minutes by speed boat or half an hour by ferry, beware though, it you opt for the speed boat option, you will be in for a bumpy ride! I would recommend renting a car when visiting the island of Fuerteventura as everything is very spread out and the bus system stops running at around 10pm.
Back to the hotel, one thing I must mention is their golf course. We had only played 18 holes once before and had such a brilliant experience at the Elba Palace Golf Club (it was good value for money too!). Some golf clubs can be a bit snooty, but this was quite the opposite. The course was kept to a high standard and offered stunning sea views. If you are a golf fan, I would highly recommend going for a round.
Dinner in the hotel did not disappoint, set up in the beautiful courtyard complete with live pianist. Although a little pricier than other meals we had, the ease of eating at the hotel in such a beautiful setting made it worth every penny and is to be expected of a luxury hotel.
Overall a fantastic and relaxing stay, highly recommended to couples and Golf lovers alike!
